Roundtables
Background
The purpose of the Hiphop Roundtable is to incite a dialogue with our youth and their advocates.
By bringing youth representatives from each region together with the community leaders who effect change in their communities, we can engage in critical discussions which will help facilitate an archive that represents the national and international scope of Hiphop culture.
Meetings
The Hiphop Roundtable is a series of national meetings that will allow HAP Director and Staff to interface with principal players who will contribute to HAP development.
These meetings will take place over the course of two years and will help facilitate the links between youth, Hiphop artists, creative artists, academics, poets, directors and music industry executives as well as bridge the gap between political officials and media representatives.
The first meeting will be on community activism and education and includes community activists and educators from the US, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. HAP is a research program and resource center designed to work with education, community and arts groups, organizations and institutions in the US and internationally whose main constituency is low-income and marginalized youth.
