Maiya earned double\u00a0major B.A. Degrees in Psychology and Anthropology at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Maiya\u2019s\u00a0experience managing a Psychology of the Law Lab, was the catalyst that led her to focus on independent\u00a0ethnographic research in anthropology. Her primary research interests lie at the intersections of Black culture,\u00a0queerness, and kinship\/community building.
