Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio but a Special Permanent Resident of Japan, Emi is interested in exploring how multiracial and multicultural identity can be expressed through aesthetic choices, particularly hair, makeup, and jewelry. In her art practice, Emi primarily investigates how \u0022reappropriation\u0022 functions in both the visual and performing arts and she is thrilled to continue this research at the Archive.\u00a0\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EWhen she\u0027s not broadening her knowledge of\u00a0hiphop culture or listening to Lauryn Hill, Whitney Houston, Ella Mai, Alicia Keys, Kehlani, and Aaliyah, you can find her managing the Agassiz Theater Costume Shop, formulating dance\/theater curriculum for Cambridge public school students who participate in Harvard CityStep, peer counseling, production designing for Harvard fashion shows, and writing and directing films about Black hair and braiding.\u00a0\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u00a0\u003C\/p\u003E\n \u003C\/div\u003E\n \u003C\/div\u003E\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\u003C\/div\u003E"
