Zones
Zones refer to Hiphop’s space and place. The concept includes neighborhoods, cities, towns, regions, nations and continents. It is where Hiphop culture is concentrated. Each Zone location is organized according to: (1) Hiphop artistic and performance elements: MC, DJ, B-Boy/B-Girl, Graffiti Writing, and (2) cultural and social elements: organizations, schools, institutions, conferences, businesses, spirituality and religion, etc.
An area is considered a Hiphop Zone when Hiphop related cultural activity occurs regularly in that place. Even when an artist performs regularly in a Zone it may not be listed unless there are also people actively involved in Hiphop culture. If you think your area qualifies as a Hiphop Zone, please contact The Hiphop Archive.
Zone Profiles
A zone profile is a brief description of the area and its unique contribution to Hiphop. Please feel free to contribute a profile for your zone and comment on current profiles. In addition to general profiles, we also solicit formal linguistic and Hiphop Linguistic profiles for the zones. To participate at this level, please contact us at: updates@hiphoparchive.org
Click on a link to the zone, and see and read and feel it!
