“RAP, RACISM, AND THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY” is a workshop opportunity facilitated by the sisters and brothers at The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement. The workshop description reads: “With the international popularity of rap music, one would think that Black youth were making billions of dollars each year. However, that is far from the reality. This workshop charts how hip-hop artists are deceived and exploited by record labels, managers and promoters in the music industry. In uncovering the deceptive nature of the music industry, this workshop also provides aspiring entertainers, musicians and poets with the guidance in avoiding the mistakes and pitfalls many talented artists make when entering into this competitive and underhanded field.” For more information, go to http://www.malcolmxgrassroots.org/, click to enter the site, go to “about,” then click workshops.
